Motorola introduces Moto 360, its iconic Android Wear-based smartwatch

Motorola finally unveiled the Moto 360, a smartwatch powered by the Android Wear, Google’s new platform for wearables.

The Moto 360 is the first Android smartwatch to introduce a round-faced design which separates itself from the other contending square type wearables which are out now in the wild. Motorola’s modern timepiece is said to be Google’s best defense counter to the forthcoming release of Apple’s iWatch.

Moto 360 sports the durable Corning Gorilla Glass 3 housing the 1.56-inch Backlit LCD display that has 320 x 290 resolution with 205 pixels per inch. It's powered by TI OMAP 3 processor, a 4GB storage capacity, and 512MB of RAM. Moreover, it's pre-loaded with six digital watch faces, features premium materials such as a customizable metal and leather straps for a comfortable fit, and not to mention, it comes with its own charging pad for an amazing Qi wireless charging. Moto 360 measures 46mm diameter by 11.5mm high and weighs about 49 grams.

Motorola’s circular marvel not only keeps you on time and up to date with what you need to know at the very moment through refined notifications without distracting you, which is a predictive feature, but also responds to your voice with the popular “Okay Google”. If you’re an avid Android fan, it’s a Google Now on your wrist, ask something thru the voice and search command like sending a text, setting up an alarm, checking the weather, scheduling a meeting or taking a note; it will accurately answer back to what you’re requesting.

Since it’s powered by Android Wear, you can do a lot of things just by twisting the device or without even touching it, you’ll be able to see who’s calling and check emails without pulling out your smartphone on your pocket. It also has a health tracking feature and heart activity app; the built-in pedometer and an optical heart rate monitor to keep you track of your fitness routines.

In addition to a power-saving screen which is always-on and expresses the time same as a traditional watch, Moto 360’s incredible 320mAh battery can lasts up to a day not just as good as its competitors which eat up power a day and a half.

While the Moto 360 comes with impressive features, it’s really appealing to consumers that it isn’t just compatible with Motorola smartphones but also can be paired with any Android device, may it be a smartphone, phablet and or tablet provided that it’s powered by compatible Android 4.3 or higher with Bluetooth 4.0 technology, you will be able to sync and use the Moto 360.

Along with the classic Moto 360, the Chicago brand also announced on its press event the Moto X+1 and the second generation Moto G which both sports outstanding features and specifications.

Meticulously crafted with a stainless steel case and a Horween leather strap, Motorola is retailing its premium and water resistant smartwatch with a variety of styles at $250 starting in the United States this summer and will be available very soon worldwide.

With Moto 360’s noteworthy features, surprising specs and even-handed premium price, it’s all set for a different battle against the other Android wearables, especially the impending iWatch; and I am sure it’s one of the app-driven wristwatches you want to explore around?
